BPI Infiltration and Duct Testing / Leakage Certification (IDL) Coming Soon

Duct Testing TrainingThe Building Performance Institute (BPI) announced a new course this summer for individuals who perform building infiltration and duct leakage testing. The BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage (BPI IDL) Certification is an entry-level energy auditor certification for field technicians.

BPI IDL is for HVAC contractors, builders, code officials, insulators, and energy auditors who are performing building and duct air tightness testing to meet requirements of the 2009 and 2012 energy conservation code, quality assurance, or energy efficiency programs.

BPI is still working on the final details before launching the certification but you can start preparing for the certification now. To earn the  BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage Certification you must score 85% or better on a field exam offered at a BPI field testing center.

Home Energy Partners is preparing to offer an online BPI IDL training that will show you everything you need to know to pass that test with our professionally produced blower door and duct testing video training series. 3 months access to this series that will teach you how to use both of the major brands of testing equipment will be enough time to teach you how to use it and provide you with support after you pass your test and begin testing homes in the field.

All states that have passed the 2009 and 2012 IECC are going to require that homes pass a infiltration and duct leakage test to show code compliance.
